Overview
In most IT projects, the biggest
challenge and often overlook process is in making sure the solution
correctly addresses the stated business requirements. Often these
requirements are miscommunicated or misinterpreted, resulting in project
delays, resource shortfalls, friction between technical and business
users, and potential project failures. Therefore, a process and tool was
needed to ensure that all parties had the same understanding of the
business requirements so that a successful solution could be developed
and implemented. The Business Requirements Architecture (BRA) was
developed in response to this need.
About
the workshop :
This training is especially designed and
formulated to provide step by step guidance in implementing the BRA
process. This training includes four group workshops that will
familiarize the participants with the BRA template and give them an
opportunity to work through the BRA using real-world examples. The BRA
template enables both technical and business users to probe the business
requirements systematically through required sections. For each of the
required sections, the user can estimate how much a particular
functionality is expected to cost, the amount of human resources it will
require, and what network bandwidth requirement and hardware
configuration is necessary to execute the task.
Who
should attend :
The target audience is those involved in
gathering User/Business Requirements from both Business Team as well as
Technical Team.
- Project Sponsor/System Owner: to understand
the complete requirements of the system and to understand the project
cost to develop the system. In addition, this process will also help to
prioritize the functional requirement features into project phases
- Project Manager: to better estimate project
duration, cost and skill or resources required to build the system
- Business Analyst: to better understand the
business requirements and how to articulate the requirement to the
technical team
- System Analyst: to better understand the user
requirements and to enhance communication with the business team
- Technical/Solution Architect: to better
understand the business requirements and to start the technical
architecture planning using BRA document as an input
- Software Quality Assurance/Testers: to produce
more robust functional test scenarios using BRA document
- Database Administrator: to better understand
the data field requirement to produce database table design
- RFP team: to minimize risk in awarding the
project to IT vendor
- IT Vendors who respond to RFP: to increase the
chances in winning the projects by showing the client that you know and
understand the business requirements
